Process
Want to know how you get from where you are right now to having your own writer website up and running? Here's what will happen...
Step 1: Registration and Free Consultation
Registration is quick and easy. Just click here to get started. Karin will then contact you within two business days for a free consultation.
In your initial call, Karin will ask you about:
- Your target audience
- Your goals for your author web site or book web site (i.e. sell more books, build a fan base, more speaking engagements...)
- How much time you're looking to dedicate to the site both before and after launch
Step 2: Your Detailed Proposal
After getting a sense of your audience, goals etc., Karin will put together a detailed proposal about the right website for you.
In this proposal, you will be given a choice between premium service (a uniquely-designed site), standard service (working off one of the SmartAuthorSites.com web templates), or a self-updatable site.
All proposals will include a content strategy, navigation ideas, and a marketing plan.
The proposal will probably also include some interactive elements such as blogs, podcasts, message boards, email newsletters, and more. All of those elements are optional and any additional costs that they involve are noted.
Once you've had a chance to review the proposal, you will be able to provide any feedback or recommendations. Karin will walk through the details with you and make sure that the plan for the website meets your requirements.
Once you've agreed upon the elements that you want in your website and the contract has been signed, the web design and copywriting begins. This is the fun part. We promise.
First, if you select the premium service, Karin will speak to you about the look and feel of your book -- and which elements of it you want to convey on the site. Then Karin's team of designers will put together one or more design proposals based upon the look and feel of your book. Together, you and Karin will review each element of the design to end up with the best site possible. You will get several rounds of feedback on the site design, so there's no pressure to make decisions immediately.
If you select the web template, you will be able to design a unique top bar for your website, as well as choose a color scheme, photos, and more.
Simultaneously, you and Karin will be working together to finalize the copy for your website. You can do as much or as little of the copywriting as you'd like.
Step 4: Launching and Promoting Your Website
We've now finished the design and copywriting for your website. And we're confident that you're happy with the final product. So it's time to get your site up and running.
So how do we get people to your website? That's where our marketing strategy techniques come into play again. Karin will work with you to get your website increased visibility through:
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- Author Profiles on Social Networking Sites
- Google Adwords
- Interviews/Podcasts
- News Aggregator/Google Alert System
- Email Newsletters and Mailing Lists
- Cross Linking/Cross-Promotion Opportunities
In addition, a conference call can be set up with the SmartAuthorSites.com marketing director to brainstorm about other marketing efforts for your book and your website.
Step 5: See Results!
After SmartAuthorSites.com has successfully built and marketed your website, we're confident you will:
- See an increase in book sales
- Have built a loyal fanbase with whom you can communicate electronically
- Regularly interact with readers and receive positive feedback on your book
- Increase attendance at your book signings and speaking engagements
- Have increased interest from other speaking avenues
- Be able to highlight future books before they're released
